The 2019 British Eventing season is a go, and it felt great to be back out competing despite the crazy morning alarm call and slightly cold conditions at Oasby Horse Trials.
We took E WARRANTSSON for the Intermediate, VIVIAN 47 for the Novice, we also had CAFRE FIRST MELODY on board, but, sadly when we got there we discovered Melody hadn't made it off the wait list. Helen Bates who is based with me took GELUK G to contest the Intermediate.
First up E WARRANTSSON (Erik). I was so pleased with how he came out, he can be quite hot on the flat but we have really worked on this over the winter and he felt fab in the arena posting a pleasing test of 31.6 with plenty more still to come. Erik then went on to jump a great double clear, he felt so strong and athletic, not to mention very happy to be out. I had a slight blonde moment and went wrong on the XC so we picked up some time faults, ooopsss but I am so happy with his performance, this horse has a very exciting season ahead of him.
Next up, VIVIAN 47 (Princess). This was my first event on her and it couldn’t have gone any better. She posted a fab 22.5 dressage, and then went on to jump a mega double clear despite the horrid rain and wind having set in early in the afternoon. Sadly no rosettes this time due to her running HC. She is such an awesome mare and so much fun, I feel very lucky to have the ride on her this season.
I am very proud of Helen and GELUK G who finished in the top 10 in their intermediate section, Helen has worked so hard over the winter so it was great for her to come out and do so well.
Next stop, our local event, Gatcombe Horse Trials. Erik is ended for the Intermediate before we head to one of my favourite events Belton International the following weekend.
So keep fingers crossed, and I look forward to telling you how I get on!
